The day after Alibaba announced an HKD 80 billion placement fully dedicated to AI, Joe Tsai and Eddie Wu collectively increased their stock holdings by HKD 120 million.
Alibaba Group Chairman Joe Tsai and CEO Eddie Wu, on the day after the company announced a new share placement plan of HKD 80 billion, collectively increased their personal holdings of Alibaba shares by approximately HKD 120 million. This move aims to send a clear signal to the market regarding their confidence in the company's AI strategy. According to HKEX information, Joe Tsai purchased 720,000 Alibaba Hong Kong stocks, spending approximately HKD 80 million; Eddie Wu purchased 350,000 shares, spending approximately HKD 40 million. This increase in holdings occurred after Alibaba announced that 100% of the HKD 80 billion raised from the placement would be invested in full-stack AI capabilities and AI infrastructure construction. The placement plan has already received nearly 3 times oversubscription. Driven by this news, Alibaba ADR (BABA) listed on the NYSE rebounded from an early low of nearly 2.5% down, turning positive several times during intraday trading.
