Kazakh President Tokayev tightens grip on power after snap election, with new constitution granting him more say over positions
The election, held on Sunday under a fresh constitution, saw the election of a streamlined parliament and cemented power for Adilet, a new party representing the old guard. The new constitution allows President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev more influence over government positions and enables lawmakers to swiftly enact his agenda.
