A fire broke out at the Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region following a drone attack, which local authorities attributed to Ukraine. At least two people were killed and two others injured by falling drone debris at the Afipsky railway station. Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed its forces struck facilities at Afipsky, and also hit a gas processing plant in Russia’s Astrakhan region overnight. This comes as Ukraine has ramped up attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in recent months, escalating a fuel crisis in Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed a decree allowing the state to temporarily control critical infrastructure found to be inadequately protected from attack.
