a16z Partner: AI Will Shift Innovation from Engineering Bottleneck to Capital Bottleneck, 20-Person Teams Can Effectively Deploy $1 Billion
Martin Casado, a general partner at the renowned venture capital firm a16z, stated in a recent podcast that AI is fundamentally rewriting the underlying economic logic of innovation that has supported the computer industry for the past 75 years. He pointed out that the industry has shifted from an engineering-constrained problem to a capital-constrained problem, where a 20-person team can now effectively deploy $1 billion in capital. Steven Sinofsky, a board partner at a16z, added that startups have not been crushed by giants because AI solves the distribution problem, and startups can raise enough capital to compete with giants.
