According to experts from the Copernicus Climate Change Service, the average global ocean surface temperature reached a record level of 21.1 degrees Celsius this week. In early August, three reactors at France's Gravelines nuclear power plant were forced to shut down due to jellyfish clogging the cooling pump system. A year ago, the same power plant also experienced a shutdown due to a jellyfish bloom. Furthermore, Electricité de France (EDF) has temporarily closed several nuclear reactors multiple times this summer to protect wildlife, due to excessively high river and sea water temperatures.
