PitchBook: Space Tech VC Funding Reaches $11.3 Billion in H1 2026, Exceeding Full-Year 2025 Total
According to PitchBook's "2026 Space Tech Vertical Snapshot" report, space startups raised $11.3 billion in venture capital across 244 deals in the first half of 2026, already surpassing the total funding of $10.1 billion for the entire year of 2025. This reflects investors concentrating larger sums of capital on companies transitioning from technology validation to manufacturing and production, rather than a surge in the number of deals. The median funding amount doubled to $14.5 million in the first half, while venture growth and late-stage deals accounted for 87.4% of total investment, with seed-stage funding dropping to a record low of 1.5%. Funding primarily flowed into capital-intensive sectors, with commercial launch companies raising approximately $3 billion, satellite companies attracting $2.8 billion, and space infrastructure receiving $1.2 billion.
