Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the transfer of conventional missile system technology developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to Indian industry for domestic production. This move ends the monopoly of state-owned Bharat Dynamics Limited in missile production and aims to accelerate the transition of missiles from the R&D phase to mass production, increase domestic manufacturing capabilities, and reduce import dependence on countries like Russia and and Israel. The policy also seeks to strengthen the defence industrial base and create opportunities for Indian MSMEs and other technology partners to participate in the supply chain.
