Treasury yields were broadly flat on Wednesday as investors assessed the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation metric. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note was little changed at 4.645%, while the 30-year bond yield was flat at 5.175% and the 2-year note yield was unchanged at 4.205%. July's personal consumption expenditure (PCE) reading rose a seasonally adjusted 0.2% for the month and 3.7% for the year, slightly above the Dow Jones consensus estimate. However, core PCE, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.2% monthly and 3.3% annually, in line with forecasts. The data precedes the Fed's Jackson Hole conference, where Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh is expected to address persistently high inflation.
