US stocks mixed at midday as investors await NVIDIA earnings; July PCE inflation data slightly higher than expected
As of 11:47 AM ET on August 26, the S&P 500 index rose 0.01% to 7,678 points, the Nasdaq Composite index fell 0.12% to 26,117 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.18% to 53,480 points. Gold fell 0.61% to $4,608.72, and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rose 0.017 percentage points to 4.67%. The July Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation data, released on the same day, was slightly higher than expected, rising 3.7% year-over-year, putting pressure on early trading. The market is closely watching NVIDIA's post-market earnings report to assess the sustainability of the AI boom.
