Hong Kong retirees' inflation grew nearly triple the city average over five years to 2026, reaching an index value of 131.6, driven by northbound travel.
The findings come from the first Hong Kong-Macau Retirement Expense Index, which reflects retiree inflation, conducted jointly by the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK) and YF Life Trustees. The index rose from 100 in 2020 and 127 in 2023 to 131.6 in 2026.
