Saudi Arabia, host of the 2034 World Cup, has expressed support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino after FIFA withdrew a controversial proposal.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) issued a statement on Thursday welcoming FIFA's acknowledgment of error, apology, and decision to withdraw its controversial "FIFA Forward Enterprises" proposal, while calling for direct dialogue among football stakeholders to restore unity. Infantino has faced widespread criticism for the proposal and is currently seeking support for his re-election to a fourth term as FIFA president next March. Saudi Arabia's support comes amid its growing influence in global football.
