Google moves AI responsibility team from DeepMind to its global affairs division
The roughly 90-person team, tasked with evaluating AI models for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards and examining user behavior, is set to complete the transition at the beginning of September. Some employees have raised concerns that the reassignment will limit their independence and reduce access to researchers developing Google's Gemini models. Google stated this is part of broader organizational changes to integrate DeepMind more tightly with the rest of the company.
