Bank of Japan (BOJ) hawkish policy board member Naoki Tamura attended the Jackson Hole Symposium, while Governor Kazuo Ueda was absent, cooling market expectations for an interest rate statement.
The move was seen as unusual and dispelled market speculation that the Bank of Japan (BOJ) would make any statements on the future direction of interest rates. Naoki Tamura is considered one of the more hawkish members of the Bank of Japan (BOJ)'s policy board.
