Figma shares surge 12% to $30.27, Atlassian rallies 8% to $181.71, as investors reassess AI as a tailwind for design software
The gains come as investors unwind the previous thesis that generative AI tools would compress seat counts and pricing power for incumbent design and productivity vendors. Figma had been down 28% year-to-date through Wednesday's close, while Atlassian was up 4% YTD. Figma's CEO had pushed back on the argument that AI makes design tools obsolete on August 25, citing demand for AI-powered design when raising its annual revenue forecast.
