Applied Materials CEO Sees AI Driving Semiconductor Industry's Biggest Growth Inflection Yet, With 80% of Wafer-Fab Equipment Growth Tied to AI
Applied Materials (NASDAQ:AMAT) President and CEO Gary Dickerson stated that AI is creating the semiconductor industry's most significant growth inflection, accelerating demand across advanced logic, high-bandwidth memory, data centers, edge AI, and advanced packaging. He noted that approximately 80% of the company's wafer-fab equipment growth this year is linked to AI-related areas, and its advanced-packaging business is growing by over 50%. Dickerson also highlighted the company's $5 billion investment in its EPIC Center to speed the commercialization of AI-focused technologies.
