Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan, the UAE's national security adviser and brother to the country's president, holds a 49% stake in the holding company behind the new World Liberty bank. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) earlier this month granted preliminary conditional approval for World Liberty Financial to launch a federally chartered national trust bank, which will issue, redeem, and safeguard USD1, the dollar-backed stablecoin World Liberty launched last year.
