On August 27, US Eastern Time, open-source AI platform Hugging Face and Pollen Robotics jointly released this mini bipedal robot. Microduck is about 25 cm tall and weighs less than 800 grams, focusing on open-source, programmability, and reinforcement learning. Users can teach it new physical skills through "trial and error," such as walking, grasping small objects, standing up after falling, and even roller skating. Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue stated that this is the first affordable AI robot that can be taught new skills through reinforcement learning. The robot will be manufactured in China, with Shenzhen-based open-source hardware manufacturer Seeed Studio participating in its production. Hugging Face hopes to bring physical AI from expensive professional laboratories to a wider range of developers and general users, aiming to sell over 20,000 units.
