The US Department of Justice announced on Thursday that it has indicted 81 individuals for alleged drug and weapons violations as part of a crackdown on the Puerto Rican criminal group Los Baja Deo (LBD). The charges, announced by Attorney General Todd Blanche, follow the arrest of 70 defendants by the FBI and Puerto Rico Police Department a day earlier. The Justice Department alleges LBD distributed at least 340kg of fentanyl and 2,200kg of cocaine over the past five years, generating over $49 million in proceeds. The department is seeking to seize $49.7 million in assets as part of the case, which is part of President Donald Trump's broader initiative against criminal organizations.
