Donald Trump threatens sanctions on Chinese banks after US-China officials meet in Beijing to discuss Xi's visit to the US
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he might sanction Chinese banks involved in Iranian oil transactions. This follows a meeting between U.S. and Chinese officials in Beijing on Wednesday to discuss Chinese President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit to Washington. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned on Monday that Chinese banks participating in the ecosystem that converts Iranian oil into funds would be targeted for sanctions.
