BOJ to expand hedonic quality adjustment in Corporate Goods Price Index for microprocessors, passenger cars
The Bank of Japan is considering newly applying a time-dummy hedonic method to microprocessors (MPUs) and a hedonic method for passenger cars that accounts for advanced autonomous driving technology. This is part of a review to expand and revise the application of hedonic quality adjustment in the Corporate Goods Price Index (CGPI), in conjunction with rebasing the CGPI to the 2025 base year, aiming to improve the accuracy of quality adjustment.
