NewVest, a New York-based private markets index management firm, launched its first private equity (PE) closed-end fund strategy on the London Stock Exchange Group's (LSE Group) blockchain-powered Digital Market Infrastructure (DMI) platform in early summer. The strategy employs a passive investment model, not attempting to identify outperforming fund managers, but rather investing in the 50 PE funds expected to raise the largest capital in the current year, capital-weighted according to each underlying fund's target capitalization. The DMI platform allows fund managers to issue fund interests as digital tokens and automates back-office fund administration, facilitating the sale of fund shares to family offices, high-net-worth individuals, and non-institutional investors. NewVest previously launched its first investable passive private markets index fund in 2023.
