Nvidia to Invest $3.5 Billion in MediaTek via Convertible Bonds to Deepen AI Chip Partnership
The investment aims to expand Nvidia's AI ecosystem by having MediaTek adopt Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion and NVHBM technologies, which will enhance Nvidia’s role in connecting custom chips within AI data centers. This deal supports MediaTek's target of capturing up to 15% of an $80 billion data-center segment next year, with an expected $2 billion in AI chip revenue this year. Nvidia seeks to maintain its central position in AI infrastructure as major customers develop their own chips.
