Retailers such as Walmart and e.l.f. Beauty are using tariff refunds to lower product prices.
According to The Wall Street Journal, importers have received over $160 billion in refunds after the Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump did not have the authority to impose tariffs. Walmart has utilized approximately $2.9 billion in tariff refunds to lower prices on 11,000 items, including beef; e.l.f. Beauty also received about $50 million in refunds and permanently reduced prices on approximately 10% of its product catalog. Tractor Supply used the refunds to offset rising shipping and fuel costs, lowering prices on some goods. However, not all retailers chose to cut prices, with Lowe's and Kohl's using the refunds for shareholder returns or inventory investment.
