Blue Voice, an AI startup founded by Harvard Law dropout David Lawrence, has secured $6 million in seed funding led by SignalFire and Las Olas VC. The company provides real-time legal and policy guidance to police officers in the field, aiming to prevent errors by offering instant access to department rules. Its platform is currently used by officers at 225 county agencies across 25 states. Lawrence, who co-founded Blue Voice with former Google engineer Amit Patankar and retired Boston police deputy chief Michael Gropman, likens the tool to Harvey, an AI widely used by lawyers. The startup claims its department-specific training helps avoid the inaccuracies of general-purpose AI and has led to an elevenfold increase in its customer base over the past year, contributing to reduced crime and operational controversies.
