Hundreds of truckers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia gathered across four Western Balkan states on Monday to protest European Union rules limiting non-Schengen drivers to 90 days within any 180-day period. They demand an exemption from these limits, warning they will block EU border crossings on September 14 if Brussels fails to offer an acceptable solution. The drivers argue the current rules severely restrict their working time, impacting their livelihoods, especially with the EU's Entry/Exit System making compliance tracking easier. The European Commission has been in contact with Western Balkan partners to find a solution, with bilateral agreements being one option discussed.
