South Korea's exports in August surged by 68.7% year-on-year to $98.25 billion, with semiconductor exports skyrocketing by 209% to a record high of $46.65 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $34.75 billion.
South Korea's August exports surpassed market expectations with a 62.0% increase, extending the strong growth seen in July. Semiconductor exports exceeded the $40 billion mark for the third consecutive month, while computer exports surged by 419.5% year-on-year to $6.24 billion, also reaching a new monthly historical high. The trade surplus remained above $30 billion for the third consecutive month, providing strong support for the Bank of Korea's commitment to its tightening path.
