U.S. diesel refining margins surged above a record $106 per barrel amid tightening global fuel supplies
The surge is attributed to disruptions from the Iran conflict, the Strait of Hormuz, and Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries, which have intensified shortages. Strong U.S. exports have also pushed domestic diesel inventories to record seasonal lows. Retail diesel prices are now near $5.63 per gallon, raising concerns about higher transportation, heating, and inflation costs.
