The United States is seeking to extradite wealthy businessman James Chambers from Spain, accusing him of providing $7.5 million in funding to the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Chambers' wife and lawyer have called the move "political persecution," noting that Chambers is an heir to one of America's wealthiest families and has donated over $1 million to humanitarian projects in Gaza. The U.S. submitted extradition documents to Spain last week, and Spanish authorities are currently reviewing the request. This is reportedly the first time the U.S. has sought the extradition of an American citizen for allegedly funding Hamas.
