Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has reportedly paused its plans to locally produce three EV models, the VF 3, VF 6, and VF 7, in India, instructing suppliers to halt related work to re-evaluate costs. VinFast had previously committed to investing $2 billion in India and established its first factory outside Vietnam in southern India last year. VinFast later clarified that this adjustment in production strategy pertains to future models, and the VF 6 and VF 7 currently sold in India will continue to be imported and assembled. The company stated it plans to develop models specifically for the Indian market to accelerate local sourcing.
