New Zealand Exporters Diversify Away From Top Buyer China Amid Slowing Demand, RBNZ Official Says
Reserve Bank of New Zealand Assistant Governor Karen Silk told CNBC on Thursday that New Zealand exporters are actively diverting shipments originally bound for China to other markets, as demand from its largest trading partner cools. China, which bought roughly a quarter of New Zealand's total exports over the 12 months ending in July, has seen its economy slow to multi-year lows due to tepid domestic demand and a prolonged real estate slump.
