FBI, in conjunction with Indian authorities, has dismantled three Indian call centers impersonating the Social Security Administration, which allegedly defrauded American citizens of nearly $48.8 million.
In a joint operation, the FBI, local police, and Indian authorities dismantled three scam call centers in India. These centers had been impersonating U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) employees since 2022, defrauding American citizens of a total of $48,778,230, with approximately 660 victims. In Maryland alone, nearly 24 victims lost $6,257,869, averaging about $260,000 per person.
