Wall Street is bullish on NuScale Power, with a consensus price target of $11.85, but analysts are overlooking risks of customer delays and project cancellations.
Motley Fool analysis points out that while NuScale Power is the only company in the U.S. cleared by regulators to construct a small modular reactor (SMR) system and stands to benefit from AI's rising energy demand, it has repeatedly faced customer delays and cancellations, including its biggest deal collapsing in 2023 due to surging costs. The company's CFO expects a power purchase agreement for its 6-gigawatt U.S. project by the end of 2026, which is crucial as NuScale remains unprofitable, and further delays could lead to additional shareholder dilution.
