Deutsche Bank Report: Platinum and Palladium Face Algorithmic Selling Pressure, Nickel Price Breakout Above $17,300/ton Could Trigger Large-Scale Algorithmic Buying
Deutsche Bank's "dbMetals All Metals Flow Report" also covers other metals. The report indicates that the algorithms for platinum and palladium are heavily skewed towards selling. If prices decline, CTA selling programs for platinum could reach -12% to -26% of the algorithm's maximum position, while palladium could reach -18% to -30%. For nickel, Deutsche Bank notes that a price of $17,300/ton for LME three-month nickel is a critical trigger point for large-scale CTA buying, with buying potentially reaching +13% of the algorithm's maximum position. If the risk of water resource disruptions due to El Niño increases, CTA buying in a breakout scenario could reach +30%.
