A new report by wealth intelligence firm Altrata reveals that the number of billionaires worldwide hit a record 3,795 people last year, an 8.2% increase and the largest annual jump in five years. The artificial intelligence (AI) boom was a significant driver of this wealth creation, with firms investing at least $30 million in AI outperforming others by 23% in market capitalization growth from 2024 to 2025. North America saw the fastest growth in its billionaire population, increasing by 11.6% to 1,337 people.
