Polish prosecutors charge fifth suspect in crypto exchange BitBay (rebranded as Zondacrypto) collapse probe, with customers facing at least $94 million in losses
Polish prosecutors have charged Roman Ż., a former business partner of BitBay founder Sylwester Suszek, with fraud and another undisclosed offense. This marks at least the fifth person charged in the widening investigation into the collapse of the crypto exchange, which rebranded as Zondacrypto in 2021. The exchange stopped trading in April after customers reported frozen withdrawals, leading to estimated losses of at least 350 million zlotys ($94 million). The probe has been extended into next year, and authorities have frozen 4 million euros in one bank account. The case is also linked to Suszek's disappearance in March 2022.
