Blue Owl plans publicly traded data center REIT, to be seeded with $6.5 billion of its own assets
Blue Owl Capital is considering launching a publicly traded data center Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), which would initially be seeded with approximately $6.5 billion of the firm's own assets. The company plans to raise additional capital through an IPO and subsequent share sales to acquire more data centers and expand its portfolio. This move comes as AI infrastructure spending accelerates, following similar data center listings by Blackstone and Brookfield. Blue Owl's shares rose as much as 1.2% after the report, though the stock remained down nearly 21% for the year, with a market value exceeding $18 billion. The firm closed its latest digital infrastructure fund in May with $7 billion in commitments and manages over $319 billion in assets.
