Adam Glapiński, Governor of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), announced that the country's gold reserves had increased to 648 tons by the end of August, reiterating plans to further raise them to 700 tons. Following this news, spot gold briefly surged by $10.42/oz to $4348.7/oz, narrowing its daily decline to 1.2%. Glapiński stated that unrealized profits from current gold reserves have reached 160 billion zlotys, and increasing gold reserves will help stabilize the zloty exchange rate and enhance the credibility of the Polish economy.
