Competition intensifies in China's autonomous urban delivery sector, with Jiushi Intelligent expanding its leasing franchise and partnering with GAC Lincheng.
Competition is intensifying in China's autonomous urban delivery sector, with companies shifting from vehicle sales to securing cargo sources. On September 10, Jiushi Intelligent announced an expansion of its leasing franchise model, offering services such as time-based rentals and pay-per-order through its proprietary and franchised fleets to attract small cargo owners and sporadic orders, thereby increasing transportation revenue. The company has launched proprietary fleets in 45 cities, with approximately one-third achieving a positive business model. On the same day, Jiushi Intelligent also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with GAC Lingcheng, aiming to provide autonomous driving capabilities to vehicle manufacturers through its Zelos Inside business. Previously, JD Logistics announced on September 9 its plan to purchase 1 million autonomous vehicles within five years. Neolix is also leveraging DiDi Freight to secure on-demand delivery orders from merchants, indicating that industry competition is extending from fixed short-haul transfers to merchants' temporary vehicle-hailing needs.
