According to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), speculative funds continued to increase their bullish bets on crude oil for the week ending September 8. Net long positions for NYMEX WTI crude oil rose by 19,720 contracts to 139,339 contracts, reaching a 20-week high. Combined net long positions for Brent and WTI crude oil increased by 25,890 contracts to 411,159 contracts, a 16-week high. Net long positions for NYMEX gasoline rose to 92,926 contracts, a new high in approximately 9 months.
