Former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison has joined the nonprofit charity Manifund, its cofounder Austin Chen announced on Friday.

Ellison, who pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy charges in December 2022 related to the FTX collapse and was released early from her two-year sentence in January 2026 after cooperating with prosecutors, will develop Manifund's funding platform and bolster its philanthropic efforts. Chen stated that Ellison had been on a work trial since July and became full-time in August, publishing her work under the pseudonym "Carol." Manifund focuses on artificial intelligence safety and effective altruism projects.
