Berkshire Hathaway's new CEO Greg Abel continues Buffett's strategy of reinvesting earnings and share buybacks, having paid only one dividend since 1965
Berkshire Hathaway, under CEO Greg Abel, maintains its long-standing capital allocation strategy, focusing on reinvesting earnings into new acquisitions and investments rather than paying dividends. The company has paid only one dividend since Warren Buffett took control in 1965. This year, Berkshire completed an $8.5 billion acquisition of homebuilder Taylor Morrison, increased its equity stake in Alphabet by $17 billion (including a $10 billion private placement), and accelerated share repurchases, buying back $4.5 billion in Q2 and an additional $3.5 billion since then, following $235 million in Q1. The company still holds over $350 billion in cash and equivalents out of its $1.26 trillion total assets.
