Isabel Schnabel, Member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB), cited ECB staff projections from September 2026 at the second BMWE European Competitiveness Workshop. Under a benign scenario, Euro area GDP growth is expected to be around 1% in 2026, reaching 1.5% in 2027 and 2028. The projections also include adverse and severe scenarios, with the severe scenario potentially leading to negative GDP growth in 2026.
