HKICL stated that these fraudulent websites impersonate "Buyer Online Protection" services, offering refunds, unauthorized online transaction reporting, and transaction support, and trick users into making payments via Faster Payment System (FPS). Some websites also demand users provide personal identification numbers, ID card photos, and phone numbers for real-name verification to receive cash rewards, and induce users to provide bank names, account numbers, and holder names to top up and withdraw funds from their platform's virtual wallets via FPS. HKICL emphasized that these websites have no affiliation with them and reminded the public to remain vigilant and protect their personal information.
