The Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem on Monday released a report titled "The Elimination Project," detailing five mechanisms employed by the Israeli government to "erase the Palestinian presence." The report states that since late 2022, and particularly after the Hamas attack in October 2023, the government of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has accelerated this process. Citing approximately 2,000 Palestinian testimonies, the report claims that Israel uses military force and armed settlers to commit violence, restrict Palestinian movement, stifle the West Bank economy, and suppress political organization. The report alleges that between October 2023 and September 2026, Israel killed at least 1,107 Palestinians in the West Bank and caused at least 75 Palestinian communities to be forcibly displaced. As of July 2026, Israel has gained control of over 1.07 million dunams of land (approximately 18% of the West Bank) through armed settlers.
