Yahoo Finance analysis points out that in dividend investing, in addition to yield, standards such as dividend coverage ratio, dividend growth, and valuation also need attention. The article recommends three blue-chip dividend stocks: AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV), Realty Income (NYSE: O), and Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG).
AbbVie, after the patent expiration of its flagship drug Humira, rebounded successfully with new drugs like Skyrizi and Rinvoq. Last quarter, Skyrizi sales exceeded $5.5 billion, and Rinvoq sales reached $2.5 billion. The company recently acquired Apogee Therapeutics for $11 billion to strengthen its immunology pipeline. AbbVie's dividend yield is approximately 2.7%, with an average dividend growth rate of 6.8% over the past five years.
Realty Income, a real estate investment trust (REIT), is characterized by monthly dividend payouts and boasts a dividend growth record of over three decades, with a current dividend yield of approximately 5.5%.
Procter & Gamble, a "dividend king" (raising dividends for over 50 consecutive years), has a record of 70 consecutive years of dividend increases, with a current dividend yield of approximately 3%. Although the dividend increase for 2026 is only 3%, analysis suggests this might be due to short-term factors such as geopolitical issues and rising costs, with high single-digit growth expected to resume after macroeconomic normalization.
