AWS says it cannot restore service to some facilities in Bahrain and the UAE six months after the Iranian attack.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) stated on Tuesday that more than six months after some of its cloud facilities in Bahrain and the UAE were hit by drone attacks during the early stages of the Iran war, the damage to these facilities exceeded their service design tolerance, making it impossible to restore access to resources and data in those regions. AWS had previously stated in March that two of its data centers in the UAE were directly hit by drones, and one facility in Bahrain was also damaged by a nearby attack. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating that the target was Amazon's facilities in Bahrain in retaliation for its support of the US military. This incident has raised concerns about the future security of data centers in the Gulf region.
