The Japanese energy group's Abadi liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Indonesia is attracting strong buyer interest, as Middle East tensions highlight the value of energy resources that can bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Inpex's president stated that energy sources avoiding the Mideast strait bolster value after the Iran war. The project is expected to produce 9.5 million metric tons of LNG annually, equivalent to over 10% of Japan's yearly imports.
