Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger recently revealed at an industry summit that Intel is supporting new specialized chips (such as SambaNova, Cerebras) based on dataflow architecture and wafer-scale solutions. In specific AI inference scenarios, these chips can deliver equivalent performance to GPUs at 1/10 to 1/15 of the power consumption. He pointed out that the human brain processes extremely complex cognition with only tens of watts of energy, indicating a "potential technical space for a 10,000-fold reduction in power consumption" for future computing.
