Celsius debtors filed a lawsuit against cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX on September 12, alleging that BitMEX fraudulently liquidated and seized Celsius's Bitcoin during the COVID-19-induced market crash on March 12, 2020, resulting in losses exceeding $100 million. Former Celsius CEO Alex Mashinsky stated on March 13, 2020, that Celsius had not engaged in trading. BitMEX has announced it will fully cease trading services on September 23.
