US stocks rally on Thursday, Nasdaq up 1.7%, as oil prices and Treasury yields dip post-Fed rate hike
Wall Street saw a broad, tech-led rally with all three major US stock indexes closing sharply higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6% to 51,779, the S&P 500 gained 1.1% to 7,637, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.7% to 26,418. This rebound was driven by easing crude prices, dropping US Treasury yields, and solid labor data, following the Federal Reserve's first interest rate hike in over three years on Wednesday. Fed Chair Warsh re-emphasized the Fed's independence and stated the US economy is strong, with price stability not harming the job market. Crypto-linked stocks also rose, with Circle Internet Group, Robinhood, and Coinbase each advancing over 5%, after the US SEC unveiled a five-year exemption for tokenized stock trading. Meanwhile, CoreWeave fell 4.2% and Fluence Energy tumbled 15.4% after lowering its revenue forecast.
